July 8th: A Studio Tour with John Marshall "JM" Stubbs

Join the collective as we step inside the studio of John‑Marshall “JM” Stubbs, a fifth-generation Texan whose practice moves fluidly between oil painting, minimalist “Bedrock” works, and experimental wall reliefs.  Tucked into Austin’s evolving creative landscape, Stubbs’ studio feels both grounded and exploratory—where industrial materials like hand-layered PVC and aluminum meet the familiarity of canvas, reflecting a distinctly Texan sensibility that is at once rugged and refined.  Surrounded by works that range from expansive narrative canvases to pared-back abstractions, the visit offers a glimpse into a process rooted in materiality, intuition, and place—inviting viewers to consider how contemporary identity and regional history can coexist on a single surface.
