November 19th: A Private Evening of Sculpture and Music at Rice University
Join the Collective for a private, curated tour of the sculptures of Rice University, home to one of the most rigorous world class permanent collections of public art in the country. Established in 2008, Rice Public Art underscores the unconventional approach and creative spirit of scholarly inquiry at Rice, and our walk beneath the campus's storied live oaks will take in monumental works by Michael Heizer, Mark di Suvero, Beverly Pepper, Ursula von Rydingsvard and Jaume Plensa.
As twilight falls, we will experience James Turrell's Twilight Epiphany Skyspace, newly reopened this September with an all new lighting system, and the evening will include a musical performance. As Turrell's light sequence unfolds overhead, the Skyspace becomes a locale for experiencing beauty and reflecting on the surrounding campus and the natural world. Space is intimate and limited.
Thursday, November 19, 3:00 pm. The Skyspace light sequence begins around 4:30 pm.
