September: The Passenger Experience at AUS with Constance Y. White

Join us for our first gathering at the newly opened 1 Hotel Austin, where Nick Campbell sits down with Constance Y. White, head curator of the art program at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, along with several of the commissioned artists. As AUS undergoes the largest expansion in its history, it is quietly becoming one of the most ambitious public art projects in Texas. The conversation covers how the works are commissioned, what it takes to engineer an installation at that scale, and how art and music together give a sense of place to one of the busiest addresses in the city. The evening opens with a presentation of the newly commissioned works, followed by an open discussion with Constance and the artists, a proper look at a collection most people see for ninety seconds on the way to a gate.
