Saturday, November 21st: Private Tour of the Ostillo Collection with Jean Capeille

Step inside Ostillo, East Austin’s newest art and culture foundation, for a private tour of its collection with Jean Capeille, Ostillo’s Director of Exhibitions. Housed at 2600 Rosewood Avenue in a neighborhood shaped by a rich legacy of Black cultural expression, Ostillo draws from the collection of founder René Campos, assembled over four decades and featuring artists such as Kader Attia, Marlene Dumas, and Glenn Ligon.

Guided by Jean Capeille, we’ll move through Masquerade, an exhibition curated by Ostillo founding director Sacha Zerbib spanning painting, sculpture, assemblage, photography, and silkscreen, uncovering the stories and histories woven through the collection. Beyond the galleries, we’ll explore how Ostillo’s exhibition space, public library, and outdoor grounds root the foundation in its community—an opportunity to consider how a private passion for collecting becomes a public gift, and how art can hold memory, provoke conversation, and connect us to place. Join us Saturday, November 21st, for this intimate look at one of Austin’s most exciting new cultural spaces.
