October 28th: Karen Navarro Studio Visit
Join us in the studio of Houston-based artist Karen Navarro for an intimate look inside her practice. Born in Buenos Aires and now working in Houston, Navarro is a multidisciplinary artist whose constructed portraits move fluidly between photography, sculpture, and collage. Her work explores identity, representation, and belonging, often fragmenting and reassembling the portrait itself to question how selfhood is built, performed, and perceived.
Navarro's work has been exhibited and collected widely, and her ongoing projects, including America Utopica, examine the immigrant experience and the idea of the American dream through her distinctive, vividly colored visual language. Join the Collective on Wednesday, October 28th from 6-8 p.m. for a conversation with the artist and an up-close look at her process and current work. Space is limited.
