January (TBD): Museum Morning at Asia Society & CAMH

Join the Collective for a curator-led morning exploring two of Houston’s most exciting winter exhibitions. We’ll begin at the Asia Society Texas Center with The House of Pikachu: Art, Anime, and Pop Culture, an exhibition celebrating how anime has shaped contemporary art around the world. Featuring artists from Japan, Brazil, Mexico, China, Côte d'Ivoire, Texas, and more, the show looks at how familiar characters and styles—from Astro Boy and Sailor Moon to Pokémon—continue to influence artists today.

The morning continues at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston with Tomashi Jackson: Across the Universe, a survey spanning nearly a decade of Jackson’s work across painting, printmaking, fiber, and sculpture. Using layered textiles, archival images, and materials tied to place, Jackson explores color, power, and community in ways that connect past and present.

A morning spent seeing how art moves between stories, cultures, and generations.
