May 23rd: Artist Studio Tour with Trenton Doyle Hancock & JooYoung Choi

Step inside the shared studios of artists Trenton Doyle Hancock and JooYoung Choi as we explore their imaginative and deeply personal creative worlds. For over two decades, Hancock has been building a richly layered universe drawn from personal history, comics, art history, and religious storytelling. His bold use of color, text, and pattern weaves together myth, humor, and symbolism to explore ideas of good and evil, belief, and identity—often expanding beyond the canvas into immersive environments.

This studio visit also offers a look into Choi’s vibrant, multidisciplinary practice, where painting, video, sculpture, performance, and storytelling come together within her evolving world of the Cosmic Womb. Together, their studios offer a rare glimpse into two expansive creative practices that build rich narrative worlds in distinct yet resonant ways. The visit provides insight into how both artists develop characters, stories, and visual languages across mediums—rooted in Texas yet resonating globally within contemporary art.
